PCIe HSM
A hardware security module in PCIe form. Cryptographic keys are generated, stored and used inside the card and never leave it in the clear; the enclosure is tamper-resistant, and an attempt to open it destroys the key material rather than exposing it.
It belongs to a different class from the network cards on this page: the buyer is a security architect rather than a systems integrator, and the selection criteria are certification, key ceremony and audit rather than throughput.
- Keys never leave the boundaryGeneration, storage and use all happen on the card.
- Tamper-resistant enclosurePhysical intrusion destroys key material.
- PCIe host interfaceInstalls in a server rather than occupying a network port.
